All Saints Church — Bay Head

All Saints Church Welcomes You!

Welcome to All Saints Church located on the beautiful Jersey Shore—a helpful place to experience the sacred season of Lent, a forty-day season which began on Ash Wednesday, February 14.

The entire season of Lent is a time of preparation. It is an opportunity for us to plumb the depths of our faithfulness so that we might explore those ways that our relationship with God and with each other can be filled with the power of love. Jesus himself found great value in spending time in the wilderness, time that preceded the beginning of his active ministry among us—it was a time of preparation for Jesus. It is a time of preparation for us, as well. It is a time of penitence, fasting, self-examination, and prayer. In the early Church, prior to the common practice of infant baptism, it was a time of preparation for those who wished to become Christians. For those whose preparation was the season of Lent, it was at Easter that they were to be received in baptism into the Body of Christ.

The Church invites us to observe a Holy Lent. The hope is that you will accept that invitation by joining the congregation in the study of holy scripture and exploring a life of meaning. Let us rejoice in the richness of the scripture passages read during Lent by coming together for a weekly, lectionary-based Bible Study. We will meet on Wednesday mornings beginning at eleven o’clock for about an hour.

Then, beginning on Wednesday, February 21, at 7:30 pm, we will study the idea of Embracing A Life Of Meaning as presented in a 5-session guide including video and group discussion. This program will continue through Wednesday, March 21. In this study, best-selling author Kathleen Norris provides a unique viewpoint on “what matters most,” including: Belief, the Bible, Community, Place, and We Ourselves. Each Wednesday session begins with a brief video presentation by Kathleen followed by a recorded interaction with a diverse group of adults. After the video those gathered that week will have their own discussion of the same topic. Each weekly topic stands on its own; so, come as your schedule permits. Our time together will conclude with the service of Compline. The regular, Wednesday sessions of Benedictine Way will be suspended during Lent.

Our regular services on Sunday mornings include the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 8:00 am & 10:15 am. These services are the standard fare in the Episcopal Church: Rite One at eight without music and Rite Two with music at ten fifteen.

All Saints Church has been the beacon of the Episcopal Church in Bay Head for nearly one hundred thirty years! We invite each and every one visiting this site located in cyberspace to also stop by in person. The entire Jersey Shore is clearly a spectacular destination any time of year and you’ll find plenty to do and see while here. We hope one of those experiences will be to stop by All Saints Church for some spiritual renewal and reflection.

There is no ‘dress code’ at All Saints. People find the comfort that suites them best from casual and informal to more dressy. So, drop by.

Even in the colder weather, a warm welcome awaits you.
